StoreAgent Vs AI Puffer (AI Power): The Best WooCommerce AI

If you’re weighing StoreAgent vs AI Puffer for a WooCommerce store, you probably arrived from the WordPress.org listing, where the plugin still carries its old name in brackets: “AI Puffer – Chat. Create. Automate. (formerly AI Power)”. The listing is impressive. Ten thousand active installs, a 4.6 average across 165 reviews, a release only days old, and a feature list that runs from chatbots to image generation to AI forms. The pricing page asks $9.99 a month.

Here’s what that page doesn’t say. The $9.99 buys the plugin licence. It does not buy the AI. AI Puffer runs on a bring-your-own-key model, and its own AI Providers documentation states it plainly: “You use your own provider account and API key. AI Puffer does not include provider credits.” Your real monthly cost is $9.99 plus a variable bill from OpenAI, Google or Anthropic that nobody can quote you in advance, because it depends on a model you have not chosen yet.

So StoreAgent vs AI Puffer isn’t really a contest between two chatbots. It’s a choice between a WooCommerce AI with the model, the cost and the store connection decided for you, and a general-purpose WordPress AI toolkit that hands you the wiring and the invoice. This comparison covers what each AI can actually read in your store, what you’d genuinely pay once the provider bill lands, and which of the two is doing a job the other cannot.

StoreAgent Vs AI Puffer: The Short Answer

StoreAgent is the better choice for a WooCommerce store because its AI is included in the price and reads your live store: the exact price and stock of a variation, and the signed-in shopper’s own order, both fetched at the moment the question is asked. AI Puffer’s chatbot answers from a vector index of your content that you refresh yourself, and its documented chatbot capabilities are file upload, web search, images and voice, with no order lookup anywhere in them.

AI Puffer is a genuinely good WordPress AI toolkit, and it does several things StoreAgent does not do at all. It just isn’t a WooCommerce store AI, and those are different purchases.

Comparison Factor StoreAgent AI Puffer
AI usage cost Included in the plan, no API key Documented: bring your own key, provider bills you separately
Live prices in chat Exact variation price, stock and SKU at answer time Retrieval from an indexed copy you refresh
Order lookup in chat Yes, signed-in shoppers, their own orders only None documented
Model choice None to make, managed for you You pick the provider and model per module
Bulk product content Nine content agents, included Yes, WooCommerce Product Updates on Pro
Pricing model Flat monthly, unlimited websites $9.99/mo per licence plus your provider bill
Free plan Yes, StoreAgent Lite, one-time credits Yes, chatbot and content writer at $0
Image and video generation No Yes, across several providers
Store analytics Revenue, conversion, chats and impressions on every plan Usage logs and credits, not store outcomes
Money-back guarantee 14 days, 100% refund Documented: 7 days, if the plugin is unusable and unresolved

Does AI Puffer Know Your WooCommerce Store?

Yes, but only the copy of it you indexed. That distinction decides most of this comparison, so it is worth being precise about.

AI Puffer’s Knowledge Base documentation describes how store data reaches the chatbot. You add “Website” content, WooCommerce products appear in the list once WooCommerce is active, and the plugin builds source text from “the URL, title, excerpt, content, public custom fields, public taxonomies, and available WooCommerce product data”. That text is chunked, embedded and written into a vector store, which can be OpenAI, Pinecone, Qdrant or Chroma. When a shopper asks something, the chatbot “retrieves the closest matching chunks and uses them as context for the answer”.

Retrieval like that works well, but what it retrieves is a snapshot. The Knowledge Base source table lists four actions against each item, and the refresh action reads “Retrain: Re-index a WordPress content source after the content changes.” Nothing in the documentation re-indexes a product automatically when you save it. So the accuracy of a price or a stock answer depends on how recently you remembered to retrain that product.

The second half of the answer is what the chatbot cannot do at all. AI Puffer’s Chatbots page has a “Capabilities” section, and it lists exactly four: file upload, web search, images and vision, and audio and speech including realtime voice. There is no order lookup, no live price or stock read, and no cart or checkout action. I went looking for a WooCommerce hook in the chat layer and found one, in the Usage documentation: selling AI credits to your logged-in users as “WooCommerce credit packages”. That is WooCommerce as a payment rail for the plugin, not as a store the AI serves.

What Each AI Can Actually See In Your Store

Take one shopper message and route it through both tools: “Is the medium in navy still in stock, and has my order from Tuesday shipped?”

StoreAgent handles that as two lookups. Its knowledge base documentation is explicit that most answers come from indexed content, but that a few details which change often are fetched live at the moment the shopper asks: the exact price, stock status and SKU of a specific variation, and the signed-in shopper’s own order. Both lookups are read-only and stay inside your store. Order lookup is restricted to logged-in customers and ownership is verified first, so a guest cannot fish for a stranger’s parcel. An unauthenticated visitor gets asked to sign in, with their order number repeated back to them.

AI Puffer answers the first half from whatever it indexed last, and cannot answer the second half. If the navy medium sold out this morning and you have not retrained that product, the shopper is told it is available. That is the failure mode a store owner finds out about from a complaint rather than from a demo.

Now the honest version of StoreAgent’s side, because it is not instant either. Its own troubleshooting notes describe a three-to-five-minute debounce between saving a product and the index catching up, and tell you to sync manually via Bulk actions if a stale answer persists past ten minutes. The difference is the scope of the gap: minutes on general catalogue copy, and no gap at all on the variation price, the stock status and the order, because those are read live.

A second thing worth knowing before you install StoreAgent’s WooCommerce AI chatbot: it deliberately keeps the widget off your storefront until the first product index finishes. The setup screen shows the progress instead, counting up to a line like “Indexed 63 of 63 items”. If you install it and immediately open your shop in another tab looking for a chat bubble, there won’t be one yet. That is on purpose, so no shopper meets an assistant that knows nothing, but it does catch people out.

What We’ve Seen: Store owners judge an AI plugin on the quality of its writing demo, then discover the chatbot they also got in the box cannot answer the question their inbox is actually full of. Bulk product descriptions are a project you finish. “Where is my order” is a question that arrives every day forever. The thing to check before you buy isn’t whether a plugin supports WooCommerce. It’s whether the AI can read your orders.

How StoreAgent And AI Puffer Pricing Compare

StoreAgent bills a flat monthly fee with the AI usage included in it, across four tiers:

Plan Price AI chat replies Memory items AI tasks
Lite Free 50 one-time 1,000 25 one-time
Growth $19/mo 500 5,000 500
Pro $49/mo 5,000 25,000 2,500
Business $249/mo 50,000 100,000 10,000

Lite credits are one-time and don’t renew, so it’s a way to test the tool rather than run a busy store on it. Every paid tier can be used on unlimited websites. Support Escalation starts on Growth, and full chat history is listed on Pro and Business. Paid plans carry a 14-day, 100% money-back guarantee.

AI Puffer bills for the plugin licence, and the AI is your problem:

Plan Monthly Licence AI usage cost WooCommerce product updates
Free $0 WordPress.org download Your own provider key No
Pro $9.99 Single site, with 2, 5 and 10-site licences offered Your own provider key Yes

Two things in that table catch people. The first is that “WooCommerce Product Updates” sits in the Pro column on their pricing page, so the bulk product work most store owners install this plugin for is not in the free tier. The second is the AI usage column, which is not a footnote. Their AI Providers page carries it as an information block: “When you purchase AI Puffer Pro, you get access to additional plugin features. API usage is separate. You still need your own provider account and billing setup for OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI, or any other provider you connect. AI Puffer does not include API credits.”

That last clause is the real pricing story, and it gets worse when you look at what you’re being asked to choose. AI Puffer lets you pick the provider and the model for each module separately, which sounds like freedom until you price it. On OpenAI’s own published rates, the models in that dropdown run from $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens on gpt-5.6-luna to $30.00 and $180.00 on gpt-5.5-pro. That is a 150-fold spread on output tokens between two options sitting in the same list. Most store owners have no basis for choosing between them, and the plugin cannot tell you, because it does not know what your shoppers are about to ask.

Here’s what the difference looks like in practice (example data, not a real store). A WooCommerce shop runs 600 chat conversations a month and bulk-writes 300 product descriptions. On StoreAgent that fits inside Pro at $49 a month, and the number on the invoice is $49. On AI Puffer it is $9.99 for the licence, plus an OpenAI bill that depends on which model you selected during setup, how long the retrieved context is, and how chatty the conversations run. Our own guide to what an AI chatbot actually costs puts bring-your-own-key chat spend at roughly $20 to $50 a month for a store of that size on a sensible model. Pick the flagship instead of the mini and that figure moves by an order of magnitude, and you find out at the end of the month.

To be fair to AI Puffer, it does give you cost controls: a usage log per request, credit pricing rules, and per-role quotas. Read the documentation closely, though, and those meter your users, not your provider. As their Usage page puts it, “AI Puffer credits are internal plugin credits. They do not replace OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI, Replicate, or other provider billing.” They cap what your visitors can consume. They do not cap what OpenAI charges you.

If the API key question is the one you’re stuck on, we wrote about running WooCommerce AI without an API key separately. StoreAgent’s position is simple: there is no key to generate, paste or top up, and the AI cost is the plan price.

Beyond Support: What Else Each Tool Does

Both tools write product copy, and this is where AI Puffer is at its strongest. Its WooCommerce Assistant runs from the Products list: select rows, click Assistant, choose the provider and model, pick which fields to update, and process. It writes titles, descriptions, short descriptions, SEO fields, tags and slugs, and product data such as price, SKU, stock status, dimensions and attributes is available to the prompt as context. Automations can run the same rewrites on a schedule. Their own documentation is careful to note that the Assistant “updates product content fields. It does not change price, SKU, stock, dimensions, or other product data fields”, which is the right default.

StoreAgent ships nine content agents in the same plan as the chatbot: product descriptions, product summaries, product tags, category descriptions, image alt tags, product upsells, review moderation, review summaries and coupon descriptions. The upsell agent scans the catalogue nightly for products with no cross-sell pairing and queues suggestions for one-click approval, which is a different shape of job from a bulk rewrite.

The bigger gap is measurement. StoreAgent’s AI-powered store insights dashboard is on every plan including free, and it reports on the store rather than the plugin: Revenue, Conversion rate, Chats and Impressions, each against the previous period, plus a four-stage funnel from widget impression through opened chat and add-to-cart to purchase. Assisted purchases are matched to real WooCommerce orders rather than estimated. That matters more than it sounds, because Baymard Institute puts the average documented cart abandonment rate at 70.22% across 50 studies, and a funnel is how you find which of those four steps is leaking. AI Puffer’s Usage screen is thorough about tokens, credits and balances. It does not tell you whether the chatbot sold anything.

One area where neither is finished: assistant access. StoreAgent registers its agents and chat controls as WooCommerce AI abilities through the WordPress Abilities API, so an agent on your machine can write descriptions or check your plan with write actions gated behind a confirmation. The gateway that exposes them over WooCommerce MCP to Claude or ChatGPT is not live yet; StoreAgent’s own MCP page puts its release in early September 2026. AI Puffer’s documentation covers a REST API and event webhooks, and its own WordPress AI Connectors route WordPress AI Client requests through the plugin. Neither product should be bought today on the strength of its assistant story.

Where AI Puffer Is Genuinely Strong

AI Puffer is a serious plugin and it would be silly to suggest otherwise. It has shipped since December 2022, it holds a 4.6 average across 165 reviews with ten thousand active installs, and it is still shipping releases most weeks. The free tier is unusually generous: a working chatbot, the content writer, AI forms and image generation for nothing. Its breadth is real, and much of it StoreAgent does not attempt at all. Image and video generation. AI forms that turn a form submission into a generated document. Content pipelines fed from CSV, RSS, URLs or Google Sheets. Realtime voice. Connectors for Slack, HubSpot, Notion, Pipedrive, Zapier, Make and n8n. The ability to resell AI credits to your own logged-in users. If you want one plugin doing AI work across a whole WordPress site rather than a store, that list is hard to beat at $9.99 a month.

The bring-your-own-key model is a real advantage for some buyers, and I don’t want to write it off. It supports eight text providers, Ollama among them for local models, so if you have compliance rules about where data goes, or you already buy tokens at volume, AI Puffer lets you keep control of both. That is worth something, and StoreAgent does not offer it.

Now the honest counterweight, because you should hear it from us rather than find out later. StoreAgent is not a general WordPress AI toolkit. There’s no image generation, no AI forms, no voice, no human-agent inbox and no SMS. It doesn’t write your blog posts from a spreadsheet. When its chatbot hits a question it shouldn’t answer, it escalates by email on paid plans: your team gets the full transcript with the customer set as the reply-to address, so replying goes straight back to the shopper. That’s a faster human, which is worth something. If a shared support inbox with agent seats is what you’re shopping for, neither of these tools is it, and you can see how we line up against the tools that are in our StoreAgent comparisons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AI Puffer the same plugin as AI Power?

Yes. It is the same plugin under a new name. The WordPress.org listing reads “AI Puffer – Chat. Create. Automate. (formerly AI Power)”, the plugin slug is still gpt3-ai-content-generator, and the site remains aipower.org. If you are comparing an older review of AI Power against the current product, check the dates, because the feature set has moved on since the rename.

Does AI Puffer need my own OpenAI API key?

Yes. Its AI Providers documentation states that you use your own provider account and API key, and that the plugin does not include provider credits. Buying Pro at $9.99 a month unlocks plugin features only; API usage is billed separately by whichever provider you connect. Budget for the licence and a variable provider bill, not the licence alone.

Can AI Puffer’s chatbot look up a WooCommerce order?

No. Its documented chatbot capabilities are file upload, web search, image analysis and voice. Order lookup is not among them, and no live read of order data appears in the chatbot documentation. It answers product questions from a vector index of your content, which you refresh with the Retrain action when a product changes.

Is StoreAgent a full WordPress AI toolkit?

No, and that’s deliberate. StoreAgent is built for WooCommerce stores: chat that reads your products and orders, nine content agents for store pages, and a dashboard that reports revenue and conversion. It does not generate images, build AI forms, run voice agents or write general blog content from feeds. If those are the jobs you need doing, AI Puffer covers more ground.

How much does StoreAgent cost compared to AI Puffer?

StoreAgent runs free, $19, $49 or $249 a month with the AI included and no API key. AI Puffer runs free or $9.99 a month for the licence, plus your own provider bill on top. The licence is cheaper; the total is the question. Compare the plan price against the licence plus a token bill you cannot predict until you pick a model.

Which AI Is Right For Your WooCommerce Store?

StoreAgent, if the store is the point. On the evidence, StoreAgent vs AI Puffer comes down to whether you want an AI that reads your live orders and prices for a price you can put in a budget, or a broad WordPress AI toolkit whose real cost depends on a model choice you’re not equipped to make yet. If you want the toolkit and you already buy tokens, AI Puffer is a reasonable buy and the cheaper licence is real.

Here’s what to do with all this:

If you run a WooCommerce store and want AI that reads your real catalogue and your real orders without an API key attached to it, StoreAgent is built for exactly that. Start free on StoreAgent Lite and see what it answers before you spend anything.
