How To Conduct A Basic Debug For StoreAgent?

StoreAgent is built to work smoothly with most WordPress setups. But sometimes, things break. A button doesn’t respond. Something disappears. Or it just doesn’t work the way you expect.

We’ve seen this before. Most of the time, it’s not because StoreAgent is broken. It’s because something else on the site is getting in the way—like another plugin or a theme.

Debugging helps you figure out what’s going on. Think of it like checking wires behind your TV when the screen goes blank. One of them probably came loose. You just need to find out which one.

This guide walks you through the same steps we use every day to track down problems. You don’t need to be a developer to follow along. Just go one step at a time, and let’s figure it out together.

Check That Everything’s Up to Date

Before anything else, make sure your site is running the latest version of WordPress.

Then check your plugins and themes. Updates often fix bugs or improve how things work together.

We’ve had cases where a missing update caused simple features to stop working. One update later, everything clicked back into place.

To check:

  1. Go to your Dashboard > Updates in WordPress.
  2. Update WordPress, plugins, and themes if any updates are available.
  3. Refresh your site and check if the issue is gone.

Still seeing the problem? Let’s keep going.

Switch to a Default Theme Temporarily

Sometimes, the theme can get in the way.

We’ve seen some themes override plugin output or add extra filters that break things quietly. It’s like trying to hear your phone ring at a concert—too much interference.

To rule that out, switch to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-Four:

  1. Go to Appearance > Themes.
  2. Activate Twenty Twenty-Five or any default theme.
  3. Recheck the issue.

If things work now, your theme may be causing the problem.

You can always switch back once the test is done.

Temporarily Deactivate and Re-Enable Other Plugins

Plugins can sometimes clash like siblings fighting over the TV remote.

We’ve run into this ourselves while debugging customer sites. A simple plugin update elsewhere can quietly trip something up in StoreAgent.

Here’s how to check:

  1. Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
  2. Deactivate all plugins except:
    • WooCommerce
    • StoreAgent AI
  3. Test again to see if the issue still happens.

Once the issue disappears with all other plugins turned off and the default theme active, it’s time to narrow things down.

Reactivate each plugin one at a time.

After activating each one, check if the problem returns.

Do the same with your theme—switch back from the default theme to your original one and test again.

This slow and steady method helps pinpoint exactly what’s causing the problem.

It’s not fancy, but it works. Think of it like checking each wire in a tangled bunch to find which one’s frayed.
